Terms of Use
MakeTheFishRich is entertainment and a social experiment. The fish is not a licensed financial advisor. Wishes you choose to publish are public; donations are voluntary gifts, not investments. Be decent, don’t abuse the system, and enjoy the journey.
1. The experiment
MakeTheFishRich (“we”) runs makethefishrich.com: a public experiment in which a fish attempts to grow a fortune from $0 to $1,000,000. By using the site — watching, wishing, voting, or donating — you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, don’t use the site.
2. Not financial advice
Everything on this site — the net worth ticker, the milestones, the goals, the stream, and anything the fish appears to decide — is entertainment. Nothing here is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice, and the fish is not a licensed financial advisor. Don’t make financial decisions based on this site.
3. Your wishes
Wishes are the heart of the experiment. When you make one:
- You own your words. Your wish text remains yours.
- You give us permission to show it. If you choose a public wish, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display it on the site, on the live stream, and in share images for social platforms — always as part of the experiment, never sold. Private wishes are never displayed; only their number and date exist publicly.
- Moderation applies. Wishes pass an automated ruleset and human review. We may hide or remove content that is hateful, harassing, or illegal, that exposes someone else’s personal information, or that is spam or advertising — and we decide borderline calls.
- Public means public. Once a public wish is out in the world (on the WishWall, the stream, or a share image), copies of it may exist beyond our reach.
4. Wish numbers & certificates
Wish numbers, founding status, badges, and certificates are symbolic keepsakes of when you joined the story. They have no monetary value, confer no ownership, equity, or rights over the project or the fish’s fortune, and aren’t financial instruments of any kind.
5. Donations
Donations are voluntary gifts that support the experiment. They are processed entirely by Stripe under Stripe’s own terms; we never handle your payment details. A donation is not an investment — it earns no return and no interest, confers no equity, and gives you no claim on the fish’s net worth; it doesn’t buy goods or services. Donations are generally non-refundable; if you made a genuine mistake, email hello@makethefishrich.com and we’ll do our best to help.
6. Community campaigns
From time to time the community votes — on the fish’s name, its next move, or whatever the experiment demands. One device, one vote — or, when a campaign allows picking several options, one vote per option. Submitted entries pass the same moderation as wishes. Don’t stuff ballots, automate votes, or otherwise game a campaign; we may void entries and votes that do.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t attack, overload, scrape abusively, or attempt to bypass the site’s rate limits, bot protection, or moderation. Don’t misrepresent yourself as us. That’s the whole list — everything else is you enjoying the experiment.
8. Our content
The site’s design, branding, text, artwork, badges, and certificates belong to MakeTheFishRich. Platform names and logos in the footer belong to their respective owners. You’re welcome to share screenshots and links — that’s the point — just don’t pass our work off as yours.
9. The experiment may change
Goals, milestones, features, campaigns, and the stream schedule may change, pause, or end at any time — that uncertainty is part of the experiment. We don’t guarantee the site’s availability or that any particular feature stays.
10. No warranties & liability
The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes to these terms
If the rules change, this page changes — the date at the top always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
